Capital Campaign- at $552,956.00

The Capital Campaign has reached the mid way point in the goal of raising one million dollars. This remarkable feat has been accomplished as a result of the generous response of donors to the efforts of our Honorary Chair, Senator Catherine Callbeck and the team of volunteers co-chaired by Ken Ezard and Kip Holloway.

David Hamilton Honoured

On Saturday, September 29, 2006, Rev. David Hamilton, past chair of the Camp Abegweit  Board, was one of  eight people honoured by the United Church of Canada at Connections 2006, the National Camping Conference, held in Kananaskis, Alberta.

David was  honoured for:

* His dedication to ensuring that Camp Abby is a place where children and youth could enter into a deeper relationship with a personal God.

* His determination in encouraging people to support the Camp financially so that it could be safe and positive environment for children and youth.

* His personal commitment to the campers, staff, and camping program along with his ability to use humour to smooth things over and resolve issues when things were difficult.

* His exceptional skill in recruiting people to help establish a plan whereby Camp Abby will be renewed and restored to serve the children and youth of P.E.I. for years to come.

David leads by example. He never expects anyone to do any work that he is not also prepared to participate in, from washing dishes to taking calls from upset parents!  Hats off to David!!

Here and There: what people are doing.

In O’Leary, on the first Sunday in Advent last November, the Tyne Valley Community Choir shared an evening of Christmas music. The offering for the evening was given to the Capital Campaign.

Park Royal in Charlottetown plans to hold a pancake breakfast on Saturday, March 10th, to promote the campaign and to raise money.

St. Andrew's will, at its Annual Meeting, consider a proposal from their Committee of Stewards that $3,000.00 a year for five years be given to the Camp.

The Senior Sunday School Class of the Bedeque Pastoral Charge challenges other Sunday School classes or youth groups to see who can raise the most money for the Camp. Contact Joan Linkletter at 887-2978 to take up the challenge.
