Capital Campaign at $710,015.00

The Capital Campaign is nearing the ¾ mark in the goal of raising one million dollars.  We take our hats off to the approximately 225 individuals who have stepped forward to make a commitment to the camp. We also take our hats off to the dedicated work of our  Honorary Campaign Chair, Senator Catherine Callbeck and her team of volunteers co-chaired by Ken Ezard and Kip Holloway.

Camp Abegweit Planning for the Future

The Board of Camp Abegweit would like to extend to you an invitation to participate in a visioning day on April 21, 2007 at Tryon United Church, South Shore Pastoral Charge.

The purpose of the day will be to gather your ideas, your dreams, the visions you have about how the Camp site might be developed beyond the new lodge. What kinds of programs and activities would you like to see take place at  Camp Abby over the next 5, 10, 15, 25 years.

You are asked to bring a lunch to share. Refreshments will be provided. Plan to be at the church by 10:00 a.m. and know that you should  be away from the church by 3:00 p.m.

During the day we will dream dreams, share visions, sing camp songs, and play a few camp games.  Plan to participate.

Fund Raising Ideas

During the Capital Campaign, each congregation has been encouraged to approach the campaign in the manner that best suits their particular circumstance.

Here are some fund raising activities.
-a chili or spaghetti supper
-a pancake breakfast or brunch
-a flea market or bake sale
-a soup and sandwich lunch

-a toonie-loonie race. Between the men, women, young people in the congregation to see who over the period of three weeks  can lay down in a line the most toonies and or loonies. Adults use toonies, young people use loonies.

-A Evening Song Service.

-The new lodge  will be approximately 130 ft X 42 ft. It would take 4,128  loonies or 2,064 toonies to circle the outside of the building.

The dining room in the new lodge will be 51 X 42 ft. It would take 2,232 loonies to circle the dining room.

Which Pastoral Charge will be the first to circle the building, the dining room?

Here and There

UCW:
The UCW Presbyterial at its Annual Meeting at Trinity United Church in Charlottetown on January 27th gave $500.00 to the capital campaign and $1,000.00 to help the Camp meet its expenses this summer.

Pastoral Charges:
Twenty of the twenty-four Pastoral Charges in the Presbytery have reported that in one way or another their Pastoral Charge is at work on the Capital Campaign. The goal is to provide everyone with the opportunity to participate.  We take our hats off to the lay representatives and clergy who are giving leadership in the congregations.  Yes, budgets are tight. The task, at times, looks daunting. But we know that with God’s help all things are possible Every dollar counts.
